CANADIAN CHILDREN OPTIMIST FOUNDATION

Southwestern Ontario District of Optimist International
Canadian Children's District Foundation

Dear Club Foundation Representative

Congratulations on accepting the position of Club District Foundation Representative for your Club. It is a great honour to be a leader in your club and I wish you a very successful year.
As of the 2011-2012 Optimist year the Canadian Children's Optimist Foundation, as it is now know, is officially functioning on its own with no direct ties to the Optimist International Foundation. As in the past all the money donated to the Foundation is used to support Optimist Programs in Canada only and individuals receive a tax receipt for their donations. The funds that you raise goes to support such programs as Oratorical contest, Essay Contest and CCDHH. This will represent the amount of $10,000.00 for each District. Remember that without the support of the Foundation the District would not be able to support these Optimist Programs.
As District Foundation Representative I am asking that you encourage your club to set a goal of donating at least $10.00 per member to the Foundation. Your responsibility will then be to help your club achieve this goal.
To be a success you will require the support of your club to raise money during club meetings. It is also important that you encourage your Optimist club board members to donate to the foundation. Suggestions for fund-raising at club meetings may be selling squares, 42 squares per sheet (thus numbered from 1 - 42) at the cost of a twoonie per square and when all the squares are sold draw a number and the winner receives $40.00 and the remaining forty four going to the foundation with the winner listed as the donor. Other ideas could be a 50/50 draw, or donating the money raised from your fine pot to the foundation. But don't forget the Dime a day pin promotion also.
Club Foundation representatives will also be eligible to receive awards for their contribution to the CCOF. Your name will be placed in a draw for a prize at each quarter board and the CFR raising the most dollars per member at year's end will receive a recognition award at the November 2012 Quarter Board. I wish you a successful year and await a cheque from your club to the CCOF which will help make Southwestern Ontario District achieve their goal of raising $40,000.00 for the Optimist Year.
I am also including information on the personal levels of Contributions to the Foundation along with other important information that will help make you year a success. Thanks once again for volunteering to be a CFR and all the best for a successful year.
If you have any questions please contact me by email: nstrickland@cogeco.ca .

Yours in Optimism

There are different levels of giving for both individual members and clubs which I have listed below for your personal information. You may use this for a guide as you receive donations from the club and individuals. Some individuals may be interested in achieving those levels and the recognition awards that they receive for reaching each level. Your responsibility is to keep a running tab of the personal donations and send that information along with a cheque or cheques to me at the address listed below. You may also bring it with you to the Quarter Board and present it to me or one of the Foundation committee members - John Sanders or Brian Clements. Please do not send cash in the mail and make cheque payable to CCOF.
