Governor Marty Quenneville's Message
2009 - 2010

Remember when - Why?

Remember when you first signed up as an Optimist member? Remember the enthusiasm you had at that time? You joined for a reason - what was it again? Was it the Optimist Creed or a special project for the kids that turned your crank? Well the Creed is still important and so are projects for the kids.

My theme this year is to stress the importance of living the Creed in all that we do. Also I am challenging all Clubs to come up with a new project whereby the club members actually work with the kids. When we have our Braggart's Fair this year we'll have lots to share and talk about.

When I joined my Optimist Club I wanted to help coach local kids baseball. At that time all the coaches in our park were Optimists first. Today's coaches are not and convincing them that they should be is even more difficult today.

As shown in my picture Ruth and I always have fun at District Convention and we would like to see that fun spread back to our clubs in their meetings and other activities. In these depressing times we need to show our fun side to attract new members to help out the kids in our communities.

We would like to see more members out at District Quarter Board meetings - even if it's just for the Saturday events. And I would like to see as many clubs as possible during my year as Governor - explicit directions required.

In parting one message - LIVE THE CREED, enjoy your year, grow and have some fun doing it.

Marty Quenneville
2009-2010 Governor of SWONT (District 45)
