2011 - 2012 Governor Bruce Cox Message
Greetings Fellow Optimists,
I hope that you are all looking forward to another successful year in our great District, I know I am. I think together we will continue to make a difference in the life of a child.
Volunteering as an Optimist has given me an opportunity to meet and be involved with our youth. I am asking each of you to become more involved within your communities and by doing so, the kids will benefit tremendously by having strong and caring role models. We need to pass our vision, our drive and our enthusiasm onto the next generation. When you smile and have fun at an event or activity, the kids and even the adults will do the same….. IT'S CONTAGIOUS! Seeing a child grin with pride after his or her accomplishments, no matter how big or small, is our greatest reward. What a wonderful way to attract new members. Don't be afraid to try new ideas. It is better to try and not succeed than not to try at all.
My theme "Our Youth ~ Our Riches ~ Our Future" reflects the way in which we should view our youth. Living by the Optimist Creed, enables us to influence young people to become viable and influential leaders of the future. Their lives will be enriched with our spirit and enthusiasm.
Penny and I look forward to being able to visit each club and its members. We are eager to learn more about the wonderful things you do for your community. Keep us informed of your upcoming events and let us know if there is anything we can do for you.
In closing I want to wish the membership, the clubs and the communities we serve, all the best in this upcoming year as we continue to go out and help the youth. Let's get out there and have some fun.
